I joined Auto Europe to lead engineering for one of the largest car rental brokers in the world. The mandate is straightforward: build a modern engineering organization and a platform that can support the next stage of the business, while keeping the team close to the product and the customer.
It's early days here, and I'll keep this page updated as the story develops.

Built the product version of Candl. A career companion for tech professionals navigating their job search.

After years of coaching people through job searches on the side, I decided to build the product version of that experience. Candl is a career companion that helps tech professionals build a clear job search strategy, instead of throwing applications at the wall and hoping something sticks.
The product does the due diligence work most people skip: understanding what you actually want, where you're strong, where you're not, and what to fix first. It also keeps you accountable with focused goals instead of vague intentions.
Founding Candl let me combine two things I care about: building software, and helping people find work that fits their life.

Snyk brought me in to lead engineering at a company most of the developer security world already knows. It meant leading at a different altitude than a startup: working mostly through other leaders, and protecting a product with real scale and an established reputation behind it.
The core of the job was the same as everywhere else I've led: build the org, set the technical direction, and make sure the team could move fast without breaking what customers already trusted.

Scaled the org from 35 to 90+ people across several countries after the acquisition. Rebuilt the roadmap and architecture, and helped grow ARR from $3.2M to $18M.

I joined Tymeshift as Senior Engineering Manager and stayed on through the acquisition by Zendesk, moving into the Director of Engineering role for the Workforce Management product. Across both, I managed six engineering managers and six tech leads, and grew the org from 35 to more than 90 people across several countries.
A big part of the job was making hard calls under real constraints. We retired a legacy system and built the migration plan that moved customers onto the new one, which helped push our NPS from 7.2 to 8.3 and land enterprise customers with over a thousand paid seats. We also rebuilt the roadmap and architecture to handle 10x the load without losing what made the product work for smaller teams, which supported ARR growth from $3.2M to $18M.
None of that works without the team. I ran a diversity-focused hiring push that grew representation by 30%, and put together a small innovation lab that shipped three new features and lifted adoption on our Forecast feature by 15%.

I didn't set out to become a coach. After nine years writing software and another decade leading engineering teams, I noticed the same problems over and over in the people around me: an unclear target, a resume that undersold them, cold outreach that went nowhere, and interviews that fell apart under pressure.
Candl Consulting is the system I built to fix that. We work on clarity on what you're actually chasing, making your experience obvious at a glance, reaching the right people fast, and closing the offer. I've run it with more than 250 clients, and on myself: after a layoff in 2025, I used my own process to land the right offer in under 60 days.
This runs alongside my day job. It keeps me close to the job market and to what engineers and leaders are actually going through when they look for their next role.

Acquired by ZendeskSenior Engineering Manager → VP of Engineering
Tymeshift
Lisbon, Portugal
Took the team from senior manager to VP of Engineering. Built an agile culture and an engineering career framework, then led the team through the company's acquisition.
M&A integrationTeam buildingCareer frameworksRead the full story
I joined Tymeshift as Senior Engineering Manager, running four cross-functional teams and building out our agile ways of working from scratch. Within a year I moved into VP of Engineering, directing a team of 35 engineers and four senior managers through the company's acquisition by Zendesk.
The biggest lever was speed without chaos. Tightening our agile process cut delivery lead time by 35%, and partnering closely with sales, customer success, and support cut the backlog of pending support cases by 87% in nine months. I also acted as the engineering voice in the sales process, which helped close several enterprise deals.
On the structural side, I rebuilt our application and database integration, which cut storage costs by $50,000 a year, and created an engineering career framework so people had a clear path to grow. When the Zendesk acquisition happened, that foundation made the integration a lot smoother than it could have been.

I joined Moteefe as a Staff Software Engineer on the Payments team, working in a feature-flag driven, event-driven environment built on Ruby on Rails and Kotlin. Within a few months I moved into Engineering Lead for Payments, running a cross-country team spread across several time zones.
Leading a distributed team meant being deliberate about alignment. I set the technical and professional roadmap, ran the ceremonies and backlog planning that kept the team pointed at the same goals, and used regular 1:1s to make sure business context actually reached the engineers doing the work.
I also owned hiring for the team, from mapping what roles we needed to running the process end to end, while keeping release trains on schedule for a fast-moving ecommerce business.

At Devoteam I led engineering across several outsourcing engagements at once, which meant constantly switching context between teams, clients, and technical stacks. I owned hiring, backlog prioritization, and delivery planning for multiple teams in parallel.
A lot of my time went into raising the technical bar: designing reusable cloud architecture, pushing CI/CD and test automation, and coaching teams on tools and practices that were new to them. I paired that with regular 1:1s and feedback loops, because process improvements only stick if people are actually growing alongside them.

Moving to BMW Group was also my move to Lisbon and my first step fully into people management. I led a team building on a microservices architecture, acting as both engineering manager and scrum master for the group.
Day to day, that meant running the agile ceremonies, keeping stakeholders aligned on what we were building and why, and making sure the architecture stayed reusable and scalable as the product grew. I also owned onboarding, performance reviews, and hiring for the team, which is where I really started to enjoy developing people, not just code.

Mirante Tecnologia was a return to Brazil and to a more hands-on technical leadership role. I worked across outsourcing contracts, doing architectural analysis and staying close to the code while also carrying the leadership load: running agile ceremonies, mentoring engineers, and keeping an eye on the contract indicators that told us whether delivery was actually on track.
Most of the systems I worked on were distributed, so a good chunk of the job was continuous integration, testing discipline, and making sure quality didn't slip as we moved fast across multiple teams and clients.

This was my first real taste of technical leadership. I stayed hands-on as a software engineer, mostly on a Java and Spring Boot stack with geolocation processing, but I also picked up the scrum master hat, ran code reviews, and started coaching the team on TDD and BDD.
It was less about title and more about habit: better tests, tighter code review, and agile ceremonies that actually helped instead of just filling the calendar.

Four years of building and integrating systems end to end, mostly in Java EE with jQuery and Bootstrap on top. I worked across high and low platform integrations, wrote a lot of the reference documentation myself, and ran internal training sessions to bring new engineers up to speed.
This is where I built the habits that stuck: writing things down, testing before shipping, and paying attention to the systems on both sides of an integration, not just the one I was touching.

My first job in tech, and it threw a bit of everything at me. I planned and helped implement outsourced printing systems, wrote Java using Scrum, and also ended up coordinating teams, running internal training, and managing resources and logistics for the department.
